The second day of the second test match between England v Pakistan belong to Joe Root who scored a double hundred. Root played marathon innings to provide England and his bowlers a stable platform to attack Pakistan. Starting the day on 314 for 4, Woakes and Root started the proceedings for England. Woakes played a very good innings on a flat deck and scored a fifty. He scores 58 exactly and got out caught and bowled Yasir Shah. He face 104 balls. Ben Stokes scored 34 runs on 51 balls before he was caught by Sarfraz Ahmad on the bowling of Wahab Riaz. He scored 5 fours in his innings.

Joe Root on the other end scored freely. He played his shots all around the ground and none of the bowler troubled him on a flat pitch. He scored 254 runs on 406 balls scoring 27 fours. Root stayed on wickets for more than 10 hours also gave proof of his fine fitness. He got out on the bowling of Wahab Riaz by playing a big shot and caught in the deep by Mohammad Hafeez. Hafeez this time took a good catch although he dropped some simple catches during the series in slips.

After the dismissal of Stokes, Jony Bairstow came to the crease and scored a half century. At tea, England were 533 for 6 in 146 overs and Root was on 223. After tea, Root and Bairstow started played quickly and scored shots all around the ground at a brisk rate.  Bairstow scores a quick fire 58 of 81 balls with 7 fours. He got out on the bowling of wahab Riaz. Misbah took a good catch to get rid of him.

Enlgland declared the innings after the dismissal of Bairstow on 589 for the loss of 8 wickets in 152.2 overs. Moeen Ali remain not out on 2 runs.

For Pakistan Wahab took 3 wickets for 106 runs in 26.2 overs. Mohammad Amir and Rahat Ali both took two for 89 and 101 respectively. Yasir Shah who is the number one bowler in the world took only 1 wickets by conceding 213 runs. He bowled 54 overs.

The start of Pakistan innings was not good as Mohammad Hafeez got out for just scoring 27 runs on the board. He scored 18 runs. He was caught Root on the bowling of Woakes. Azhar Ali scored 1 run before he was also caught and bowled by Woakes. Pakistan lost 3rd wicket in the shape of Younus Khan who scored only 1 run. Bairstow took his catch on the bowling of Stokes. Rahat Ali came out as night watchman. But he was unbale to trouble the scorers and got out on just 4 run.

At the close of play Pakistan were struggling at 57 for 4 in 24 overs. Misbah ul Haq and Shan Masood remain not out on the crease. Pakistan require another 432 runs to avoid follow on. It will be a great test for Pakistani batsmen on 3rd day to avoid follow on. On the other hand England are in a strong position and they will try to give Pakistan an innings defeat. It seems that today match prediction is very clear and England will win the match.
