India v West Indies | First Test, Day 1
Virat Kohli has his own class. The super star player of India scored a century at the first day of the first test match between West Indies and India. It was yet another ton by Kohli making it 12 overall. Kohli is considered as the best batsman in the world right now. Due to his performance in ODI’s and T20’s, Kohli gained 1st position in T20 rankings and 2nd position in ODI rankings after A. B. de Villiers. The only list where Kohli is yet to appear is Test match rankings, where he is not in top 10 batsmen. Before this match, the super start batsmen has scored 2994 runs in 41 test matches for India with an average of 44.02. Although his average in both ODI’s and T20’s is above 50. Kohli scored a total of 11 centuries and 12 fifties for India in test matches.
Starting the first day at North Sound Antigua, India won the toss and elected to bat first. M Vijay and S Dhawan started the innings for India. But India lost the quick wicket of M. Vijay for 14 runs on the board. Pujara also got out in 28th over on the bowling of Bishoo for just scoring 16 runs. The score was 74 at that time.
Kohli came to the crease and played strokes all around the ground. The right handed batsman made a hundred run partnership with Dhawan before Dhawan got out for 84 on 147 balls, LBW Bishoo. The fourth man to go was Rahane who scored just 22 runs. Kohli scored his maiden test hundred and scored 143 run at the close of play with Ashwin at the other end not out on 22 runs. India at stumps scored 302 runs for the loss of 4 wicket with both Kohli and Ashwin at the crease.
For West Indies, it was Bishoo who took 3 wicket for 108 runs in 27 overs. Gabriel took 1 for 43 in 13 over. None of the other bowlers succeeded in taking wickets. Overall it was a satisfying day of cricket for India due to Dhawan and Kohli.
